Rock On - Review

Finally, a movie showcasing the bond of friendship and dreams released after a hiatus. And I had the honour of watching it on my lappy :( , which didn’t give the same effects as the PVRs of NCR, moreover the print was not original..so the total enthu of watching it drained my spirits but Farhan Akhtar.how can I miss him…

Now coming to the review, overall the movie was nice time pass..and you can even watch certain scenes twice or thrice. Humor amongst friends has been given a nice touch, though the bonding was not as great as Dil Chahta Hai. Somehow, the comparison seems inevitable because of the similarity in the background of both the movies. While, DCH is class apart, RO will go a long way to commensurate its standards. Music is good and pleasant, but the people who worship rock will have fairly different opinion. And I completely respect it.

Now, a special review about Farhan. Farhan here, Farhan there Farhan Akhtar everywhere. My brother has science exam tomorrow and while I was writing this, he came with an innovative idea of defining Farhan’s presence in a movie- “He is present in the smallest particles as proton (being the producer), as electron (being the singer), and neutron (being the actor) in the atom (Rock on)” Summed up the right way bro…It is not that I didn’t like his acting, its just that I am in love with his direction, wish he had directed this movie as well.

Tryst with Destiny -II

Recently I wrote about India’s Tryst with Destiny, and whatever struck me within an hour, I captured it on the word document. But now, I think the ordeal is not over. I need to present the other face of India, for which I am sure you people are also not unaware.

From which direction of India should I start? Every direction has its own tale of sorrow to be narrated. Lets start from North; in Haryana – one of the states of North, recently lathi charge on the teachers occurred in Rohtak which clearly illustrates the democracy situation of India. J&K, another Northern state made news because of land dispute, mind you the land dispute is not between the Indians and Pakistanis but between Hindus and Muslims. The tremors of this news created waves in the capital region as well. In South Raj Thackeray gave his and is always giving sweet and mellifluous statements, which can become the sole reason for even a riot. I think he likes to be in news, however I am sure he can find much good reasons than this to be on TV. In East – Bihar is crying its heart out for help and in West Bengal’s strategy towards development and modernization is far away, I am sure “Mamta di” will have to answer the future generation of Bengalis about its current stand on Singur.

As if this was not enough, there is another tale of woe, this time with the epic centre as “New Delhi” as in central government. If China made its all effort against India for the disapproval of passing the bill agreement in the NSG group, then Indian political leaders are giving statements which clearly illustrate that when they will come to power they will pass a bill which will make this 123 bill null. The land of unity in diversity stands on the verge where its internal forces are tearing apart its integrity. What a shame…

Do I need to say more of the India’s current internal situation? However, I haven’t talked about the sensitive issue of Maoists, and other “wars” which are occasionally going between/among states. These issues are the latest that have occurred within a span of not more than a week.

And these incidents have made me realize, when I wrote about India’s tryst with destiny maybe I was not talking of the same country? Maybe I was not living in the present to talk about same India that Jawahar Lal Nehru mentioned in his speech?May be I was not thinking when I wrote it??? May be I have woken up now to realize the gravity?

I am so confused my friends…Are these people their own enemies. I am not sure whether India’s tryst with Destiny has arrived or will it take another centuries or ages of ages to achieve what our forefathers thought of.

Tryst with Destiny

India, a caged golden bird of yesteryears, has come a long way to be free, innocuous and yet ferocious bird. I am not saying this because, I m the ruling party. Some umpteen incidents are themselves enough to prove the success of India. When the world is swept over by the wave of economy downturn, India being the "emerging economy" is seen as the land of opportunity. By far, India's ability to make it itself visible and heard; hasn't come easily or with a span of two-three years. The credit do goes to the Indianess that is instilled in every Indian. It is this spirit that has come a long way to make India visible on the world map.

Nehru, spoke at the stoke of the midnight to make world realize a big dream which was in making. After 60 years, the dream is on verge of getting fulfilled. Let me substantiate it with the successes of the past:

India has risen with the growth. The GDP was by far the highest achieved since Independence. Though still it is crippled with the issues of inflation, but still the spirit helds high. This year it pose to achieve a GDP of 8.5%. The tax collected by the Indian government outshines the previous record. All this will be used for the development of the country. Infrastructure wise, India needs to raise the standard to meet the world class standards. And, Delhi metro is one of the many examples that in itself stands apart to answer the people who questions India ability in any way. Roads-highways, airports are undergoing expansion and restructuring.

The story of “India Inc.” which has been the headlines of newspapers for a year now is no less than a dream fulfilled. Highlight being the Tata’s Nano car making waves all over the world and many mergers and acquisitions - with the difference being India acquiring world class brands in all dimensions. These events have definitely projected India as a leader, and have changed the perception of India from a mere outsourcing provider of cheap leader. India is the most happening place economically.

Indian middle class, which forms the largest part of the Indian society, has come out of the cocoon of backwardness. The purchasing power has risen, Levis jeans or UCB top is no more a distant dream of the young. The power of dreams has a voice and it is called “Gen X”.

Culturally, Indians have captured million of hearts abroad and in homeland. Art, is respected; Indian painters have never had a golden period, no more an artist is in a situation of hand to mouth. The Indian art has risen above all the levels.

Politically, India is governed by an educated sikh PM, a muslim VP and a lady hindu President. At the highest level, the religions are one. The spirit is one – to make India see the dawn of development and progress.

I tried to capture all the dimensions of India. You tell me one area, and I will give you atleast an example to prove my point. People, India is on the path of greatness. Lets be a part of this success and glory. In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that India has really achieved the fate where actually the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
